Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.
Deuteronomy 16:17
What is Stewardship?
A steward is one entrusted with managing the property of another. Jesus outlined some of the responsibilities of a steward in the parable of the talents. A steward must maintain, protect, nurture, and develop the talents or property of his Master.
All Angels, quite frankly, is reliant on its faithful stewards, as well as the generosity of others in order to maintain the parish’s property. The mundane realities are rent, utilities, telephone, fees, and the other basic expenses which need to be met in order to keep our chapel and to pay our clergy. Then there is the weekly printing of our service leaflets, monthly web site costs, purchases of prayer books and bibles, flowers for the altar, wine and bread, candles, laundering of the linens, as well as our commitment to charity and evangelism.
While the stewardship of what has been given us involves far more than money, we recognize that the tithing of our money is a critical and necessary way of witnessing to our faith and to our mission.
Members of the Anglican Catholic Church are encouraged to tithe the biblical 10%, but if they cannot do so, to give as they are able. We each make a personal commitment to give generously out of that which God has given us. It becomes a binding, solemn covenant; this is necessary to create a realistic budget. Even those who might leave the parish or mission, before the end of the pledge period, are expected to honor their pledge, so it does not negatively affect the working budget and put the mission in financial jeopardy or deny a charitable cause.
And so, even if you are not a member, if you are sympathetic to our mission and vision, we ask that you give something that will help us with our ministry.
Our pledge is that we will oversee these donations and gifts faithfully.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Corinthians 9:6-7
